Game Studio 2K Games revealed Borderlands 4 at the recent GamesCon event.

The new game follows the shoot-and-loot format established by the franchise, but this time is set on a different planet, offering a change of scene from Pandora. Players take on the role of a legendary vault hunter and are promised hordes of enemies to blast their way through in the search for new treasures.

The teaser doesn’t give much away but shows what some fans are speculating is Elpis, the moon where Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel took place. That’s based on a two-year old tweet from narrative director Sam Winkler and even if true, it's not clear what the significance is. 

Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford says his team still have a lot they want to do with the franchise, which is great news for fans given the recent flop of the live-action Borderlands movie starring Cate Blanchett and Kevin Hart.

Borderlands 4 is expected to launch on P-C, P-S-5, and Xbox Series X sometime in 2025.
