The latest instalment in the Warhammer 40000 franchise has been released his week.
Space Marine 2 is the squad-based shooter sequel to the 2011 original and sees the return of Demetrian Titus as the main playable character. He’s joined by fellow Space Marines Chairon and Gadriel who can be played by others in co-op mode or by AI.
The forces of Chaos are back as enemies, with Titus and his team also facing the Tyranids, insectoid bad-guys whose sole purpose is to consume biomatter. The bad guys can be fought using a mix of melee and ranged combat depending on their strength.
The game has received positive reviews with the combat called out as particularly satisfying and spread across well-developed environments, even if the gaming itself isn’t particularly innovative.
Warhammer 40000 Space Marine 2 is available for PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S from September 9.
