Doctor Who Writer Dies

Reported today via Twitter, former Doctor Who writer Bob Baker has died.

While probably a not a recognisable name except maybe to the most die-hard of Doctor Who fans, Bob co-created the Doctor's widely adored robot dog K9.

Sydney Sci-Fi Film Festival

While we saw and shared info about the then upcoming and now live (November 3 - 21) the Sydney Film Festival (SFF), we were unaware that there's also a separate, younger (now in its second year)  Sydney Science Fiction Film Festival (SSFFF).

Snowpiercer Season 3

Netflix has graced us with a release schedule for season 3 of Warner Bros. Snowpiercer.

Beginning from January 25, it will release one episode a week for 10 weeks.

Tom Hanks Not In Space

The List has reported on a recent appearance by Tom Hanks on Jimmy Kimmel Live and include a link to said segment on YouTube.

In it he reveals that Jeff Bezos offered him a seat for a space flight before Shatner, but with a $28 million ticket price:

Eve Fanfest 2022

CCP Games have announced that EVE Fanfest will return to Reykjavík, Iceland on May 5 - 8, 2022, after a two year COVID hiatus.

Tickets are pricey - $150 USD for early bird and $295 for regular.

Eve Online is one of the rare success stories in the MMO industry, launching a year before the biggest of those, World of Warcraft, all the way back in 2003.

Survival games are plentiful but this one's potentially interesting for tapping into both Stargate and Dune for inspiration, neither of which has had any major success in the gaming world.

Taika Waititi - The Incal

Deadline report that acclaimed New Zealand director Taika Waititi of Thor: Ragnarok fame, who is already working on a Star Wars film, has also signed up to write and direct a new to film sci-fi property, The Incal.

Star Trek continue to dole out footage from October's New York Comic Con and while that's not really news, one of their recent ones for Prodigy is noteworthy.

Prodigy co-stars gush about Kate Mulgrew, with one describing her as "like royalty".

The Matrix Metaverse

Holywood Reporter has published an exclusive on Warner Bros' decision to sell Matrix NFTs (non-fungible tokens, i.e. digital items).

They'll sell 100,000 unique Matrix-inspired characters for $50 (USD) and owners will be given the movie's blue or red pill choice and some kind of ongoing engagement.
