A Few More Games
Posted By:

The June games reveal bonanza isn't quite over but is beginning to wind down so we've just a few today.

The Entropy Centre, Evotinction and Once Human.

The Entropy Centre

This puzzle platformer's trailer showcases both its novel time rewind gun and also an interesting story hook.

Rather than just solving puzzles because that's the game, your character is in an entropy research centre where solving puzzles generates entropy energy.

Which in the current circumstances is required to save the centre and also Earth.

It boasts at least partially destructible environments which the gun can restore and hostiles can destroy.

The Entropy Centre is due to release on PC (Steam), Xbox and PlayStation this year.

Evotinction

Futuristic stealth and hacking game Evotinction has both a trailer and an extended gameplay demo.

Hacking in games is often abstracted as some kind of arbitrary puzzle, which doesn't really hit the immersion sweet spot.

What they've opted for in this game is automated hacking, i.e. it's point and click, but there's a wide array of different hacking options and distance and other environmental factors influence how long each hack requires.

If a hack takes too long then you're detected.

So progress is a matter of applying your hacking tools thoughtfully and as demonstrated in the demo there are multiple solutions for each area.

Evotinction is coming to PC (Steam) and PlayStation but doesn't yet have a release date.

Once Human

This game looks both impressive and timely but we think it's worth noting upfront that its publisher Netease is one of the industry giants when it comes to microtransactions.

Activition Blizzard is being royally roasted right now for their monetization of "free" to play fantasy game Diablo Immortal but that was developed in partnership with Netease and news of that partnership was enough to cause concern, three years ago.

So Once Human's business model might turn out to be as monstrous as its denizens.

Its trailer looks very slick and the idea of a multplayer post-apocalyptic sci-fi survival shooter with a strong Lovecraftian vibe sounds great and possibly well-timed to take advantage of the popularity of Netflix's Stranger Things.

There's also a fifteen minute developer interview in which they delve into some of the gameplay details.

Once Human doesn't have a release date yet.
