There's more than a few of those - sci-fi universes - banging about so you might not be especially excited by the prospect of every new one.

But this one's different. Former Mass Effect trilogy and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic director Casey Hudson has formed his own studio and they've unveiled plans for a new game.

For the benefit of non-gamers, these are four of the most acclaimed and widely loved sci-fi roleplaying computer games.

Our current project is a multi platform AAA game, focusing on character-driven narrative in an all-new science-fiction universe.

Judging by the concept art, they're going big with this new one.

One features a gargantuan humanoid skull, and another - shown here - a massive artificial waterway with a few spherical vehicles flying above.

Glorious.

No ETA but we eagerly await more details.
