A Safe Space
Posted By:

Amazon's singular supehero series The Boys certainly includes some very dark elements but even when the gore is flying, spinning, whizzing through the air and or dripping from every surface, the tone is more often comedic than grim.

Spinoff Gen V showrunners Michelle Fazekas and Tara Butters also have a history of genre dramas with a healthy comedic sheen, so it's surprising that our first look at their new series is all bloody and terrifying.

Welcome to Godolkin University, a safe space for you to thrive.

Love The Boys by Eric Kripke.

Big Supernatural fan, also by him.

Have enjoyed many of the works of Fazekas and Butters, especially Marvel's Agent Carter.

So when we heard that they'd been put in charge of The Boys spinoff and would be working with Kripke, we considered that the perfect creative union.

Though still of the view that Gen V should be incredible, this might not be the show we expected.

Possibly a dark counterbalance to their Kevin (Probably) Save the World.

Although maybe this first look is just about establishing that the university is as false as Vought International.

Safe space? Sure.

Whatever the case, they've succeeded in making us hungry for more promos.

Gen V is coming in 2023 to Amazon Prime.
