It's probably not a coincidence that on the same day we get a Gotham Knights trailer telling us to think of Alfred as part of the Batman family, we get the season 3 trailer for Pennyworth: The Origin of Batman’s Butler.

We don't think game and series are part of the same DC universe, but that doesn't mean Warner Bros. can't hope for a bit of cross-promotion.

Since scoffing at the new name for the series which previously was originally called Pennyworth, we took the time to watch it.

It's quite good for a period spy / alternate history drama.

Though there's no sign of its comic book connections beyond the character of Alfred.

Until the last few minutes of the season two finale.

So the change in title might not just be a desperate cry for attention from DC fans.

Season 3 has been set up to introduce some superhero factor in the form of a character who becomes empowered through a dose of weird science.

There's sign of that and more superpowered elements in this trailer.

We'll be watching when Pennyworth: The Origin of Batman’s Butler premiere's on Binge in early October.

Scheduled for the 6th in the US, it should arrive soon after down here.
