Being Bill Shatner
Posted By:

During an appearance at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, the never shy William Shatner has outdone himself.

Addressing recent Star Trek and Star Wars titles, describing them in unmistakably negative language.

Of Star Wars he said:

Fuck Star Wars…. But not Mark Hamill.

He and Mark will both voice characters in Netflix's upcoming He-Man project, Masters of the Universe: Revolution.

A continuation of the animated series - which is quite good - again under the helm of Kevin Smith.

A fan asked him if he thought any of the new Star Trek series rivalled his. He replied:

None of them.

I got to know [creator] Gene Roddenberry in three years fairly well. He’d be turning in his grave at some of this stuff.

Many media sites refuse to acknowledge how terrible some of the new series have been but not us.

Though personally we regard animated series Prodigy as both good entertainment and true to the ideals of Star Trek.

Strange New Worlds is also a genuine attempt to return to the spirit of the franchise, though in our view falls sadly short in writing and sometimes loses the sci from sci-fi.

William Shatner is of course an atypical chap and has a history of speaking his mind but his remarks still made us gasp and swear.

With the exceptions already noted we broadly and strongly agree but to hear him voice it is still surprising.

Shatner is at the Comic-Con also promoting his fan-owned documentary.
