Bringing Redfall
Posted By:

Arkane Studios have released a 20 minute video developer diary for their upcoming vampire hunter first person shooter Redfall.

Developer diaries are sometimes a snoozefest but this one includes new details.

For those who lack the time or interest to watch the whole video, we summarise the key points below.

Vampirism in this game arose as the result of biotech experiments.

But it isn't a disease which can be caught and cured.

Those who transform were already awful people and their physical metamorphosis is in a sense bringing out their inner vampire.

Redfall vampires have fangs, drink blood and fear the sun.

But their origin being scientific, garlic, crosses, running water etc. don't bother them.

There are vampire gods, vampire underbosses, regular vampires, different kinds of familiar, and human cultist followers.

It is the vampire gods who have trapped you on the island and pushed back the sun.

Vampires can turn cultist followers.

Cultists might want to and think they're becoming vampires but the vampire turning them can choose something else as their new form, eg. Bloodbags which are hideous looking vampiric equivalents of milk cows.

The developers gave us some personal details about the playable characters.

Layla and Jacob are Redfall locals.

Remi and Devinder are outsiders.

Layla is a college student.

Devinder is an internet famous supernatural hunter and was on the island book signing.

Remi is there because of something to do with search and rescue.

Jacob is former Bellweather (the evil biotech company).

If you want to know more about Redfall and haven't read our summary of their post Summer Games Fest interview, you can find it here.

Redfall is slated to release in 2023 on PC (Steam and Epic), and Xbox Series X|S.
