Doctor Strange Trailer
Posted By:

Marvel have released another trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

The trailers continue to look spectacular but as with any multi-trailer promotion for a big cinematic release, there's not much new in each successive one.

Here we catch the briefest glimpse of Xochitl Gomez playing America Chavez, who was Marvel's first LGBTQ lead in a comic book series.

In the comics one of her powers is travelling through the multiverse so this is the perfect film for her debut in the MCU.

Where maybe - we're just guessing here - she might also go on to be the first LGBTQ lead in an MCU movie.

Though not the first on the big screen.

Eternals' Phastos (Brian Tyree Henry) was their first openly gay hero as announced to the world back in August 2019.

Curiously the previous month they announced that Vaklyrie (played by Tessa Thompson) would have that honour in Thor: Love and Thunder.

Wonder what happened there?

Let's see - Men in Black: International released in June 2019 and it was a bit garbage.

While that wasn't Tessa Thompson's fault, both she and MIB / Thor co-star Chris Hemsworth lost a lot of their Hollywood sparkle because of it.

Doubly sad for her because she almost made that first in Thor: Ragnarok in a scene change she convinced director Taika Waititi to make - her character is bisexual in the comic books - but that material was ultimately cut.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness premieres in Australian cinemas on May 5, and Thor: Love and Thunder on July 7.
