Frontiers of Pandora

Ubisoft have narrowed their intended launch window for Avatar open world action computer game, Frontiers of Pandora to the final quarter of this year.

With the film releasing in cinemas in December, their goal may to be launch prior to that to capitalise on it and also Christmas gift sales.

That said, this is just an expected launch window rather than a firm release date, and even firm release dates can change.

While the NFT market has crashed and we might be seeing a reaction against microtransactions with several of this year's big titles swearing off them, eg. Gotham Knights, the Avatar property is one of those especially receptive to NFT companion, the metaverse.

People transferring their consciousness into artificial physical constructs.

In the films those constructs are physical but it parallels the metaverse and its virtual equivalents.

Ubisoft are one of the big publishers pressing the notion of NFTs hard.

Their previous efforts have not been well received but we wouldn't be surprised to see them pressing hard again with Frontiers.

Avatar: The Way of Water will premiere in Australian cinemas on December 15.
