Goofy Grace

In an interview with Interview (yes, that's right), Sigourney Weaver has dropped a cryptic and unexpected tease about her character in the upcoming Avatar: The Way of Water film.

I think if Jim Cameron didn’t know me really well, he wouldn’t have cast me as something as goofy as this.

We don't recall her character in the original film, Dr Grace Augustine, being at all goofy.

And the film wasn't overly comedic.

This tease possibly supports our theory of her character in this film being a continuation of her previous character, but also someone different.

Similar to how some cultures and religions view reincarnation.

Having just watched Moonfall which has now landed here in Australia on Amazon, we cringed at the thought of watching another attempt at goofy sci-fi.

Though Sigourney has already starred in the frequently goofy and fabulously successful Galaxy Quest.

Sigourney continued:

I had to work in a completely different way to play this character, a very physical way.

Hopefully not Jar Jar Binks physical?

In addition to the sequel landing in cinemas in December, they're also releasing the original in cinemas.

There's a new trailer for that titled Neytiri.

Avatar returns to Australian cinemas on September 22.

Avatar: The Way of Water will follow it on December 15.
