James Gunn presently straddles the Marvel and DC divide, like no other has before or probably will ever again.

Completing work on the final in the impressively and gloriously popular Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy and being newly installed as co-chairman and co-CEO of DC Studios with Peter Safran.

Interestingly in an interview with Empire Magazine he touched on the possibility of bringing a few Marvel stars with him.

This cast are like my family I cannot tell you how close I am to Chris Pratt and Pom [Klementieff] and Dave [Bautista] and Zoe [Saldaña] and Karen [Gillan]. But I also know I will work again with all those people individually again. Probably at my other job.

It has long been hinted at that the current team of Guardians will likely bow out in the third film.

Either Marvel will put the Guardians to bed or other characters will step into their space-shoes.

From that time when James Gunn was fired over certain historical tweets, we know that the Guardians cast are fond of him after they all spoke up in his defense.

Zoe Saldana recently lamented feeling stuck in big franchises so she might not be too keen to jump into another.

Though she has concurrently played main cast members in three major sci-fi film franchises - Avatar, Star Trek, Guardians of the Galaxy.

Just typing that sentence was exhausting.

With Guardians now finished and Star Trek 4 continuing to show no signs of going anywhere, maybe she'd be willing to juggle a DC role alongside Avatar.

Gunn and Safran have yet to fully reveal their plans for the DC universe but dropping this comment suggests that we might expect to see at least some of the Guardians cast feature in it.
