Hubble Bubble Toil & Trouble
Posted By:

NASA have published a new image from the Hubble Space Telescipe showing a 250 light-year wide bubble inside a nebula.

They have a few ideas about what might have caused it but none which completely add up according to our present understanding of giant space explosions.

Officially it's a mystery.

Also a mystery - Hubble has been experiencing the proverbial "technical difficulties".

On October 23 at 1:46 a.m EDT, Hubble issued error codes which indicated loss of a synchronization message which its instruments use to correctly execute commands.

The following morning its mission team reset the instruments, a.k.a. turning it off and back on again.

On October 25 at 2:38 a.m. EDT, again it issued synchronization error codes and Hubble autonomously entered safe mode, a.k.a blue screen of death.

Officially it's being investigated.
