Huge Growth in High Farms

While not immediately spacey, obviously out-of-the-ground agricultural technology has enormous applications for travelling and or living in space. Or living on bodies without atmospheres like the moon or Mars.

Bloomberg reports that the first vertical farming startup is about to be listed on the US NASDAQ. Boring.

But there are some fascinating comparison statistics to traditional farming and the technological advances being made in this field.

Vertical farms require a lot more energy for artificial light, but can grow food 30% to 40% faster, use 95% less water and require as little as 0.3% of the land space. Without the need for chemical herbicides, fungicides or insecticides.
