IGN Steam Deck Review
Posted By:

If you've had your eye on the Steam Deck you'd probably know that IGN chose to withold their review of the device which launched nearly three weeks ago, until certain updates were released.

Those updates are now available and IGN have published both a written and video review.

Scoring it 7 out of 10, they were impressed by its performance with Steam Deck verified games of which there are presently over a thousand.

Not impressed by load times which could be up to several minutes.

Battery life is not awesome. It's advertised as two hours and for some games they only got one and a half.

You receive no warning when it's low.

Using Windows to play other (i.e. not verified) games works but performance is not as good and the battery will also drain more quickly.

As a fully functional PC it's great and they got eight hours out of the battery which is comparable to low-end laptops.

The Steam Deck isn't available for sale in stores.

It's only available for pre-order directly from Valve and presently not to Australian customers.

If you're super keen on getting one, there are methods to sidestep the geoblocking restriction.
