Australia’s sci-fi news service has launched the inaugural Ion Sci-Fi Screen Awards, which will give Australians a chance to have their say on the sci-fi they like most. 

The awards cover content screened to Australian audiences in 2021, including film and television across content, production and actor categories. 

The awards also include a unique character category, which celebrate a character as conceived, written and portrayed rather than the actor portraying them. This category is chosen from both film and TV content. 

Nominations are made by the awards expert panel which includes Ion Sci-Fi editorial staff and regular contributors to the show. A different category is presented for audience voting each week, with the results combined equally with the experts’ vote to determine the winner. 

A special edition of Ion Sci-Fi will announce the winners at the end of the current series. 

This year’s categories are: 

• Best Actor (TV) 
• Best Actor (Film) 
• Best Character (Film and TV) 
• Best Production (TV) 
• Best Production (Film) 
• Best TV Series 
• Best Film 

The Ion Sci-Fi Awards are presented in partnership with the Sydney Science Fiction Film Festival.
