Despite having previously described his time in the role as done and a return not on the table, Hugh Jackman is now set to return in the role of Wolverine in Deadpool 3.

The announcement came via a twitter video posted by Deadpool himself, Ryan Reynolds.

In a YouTube interview Hugh had previously indicated Ryan's interest in his return.

Let’s just be clear there, but now, I realized, before we shot ‘Logan,’ I was like, we got the idea. We knew what it was going to be-ish, right? And I thought this is it. And that really helped me, it really helped knowing I was going into my last season, that it was my last season that I made the most of it. And it’s still a character I hold close to my heart. But I know it’s done.

Tell that to whoever you want, but please tell it to Ryan (Reynolds) because he doesn’t believe it — he thinks I’m joking.

We don't think he was joking but clearly something changed.

Or perhaps this was another case of Marvel secrecy.

Patrick Stewart was still being evasive about his return to the role of Professor Xavier in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, after the commercial aired with his very distinct voice in it.

Deadpool 3 was also given a US release date of September 6, 2024.
