Train to Busan and Hellbound director Yeon Sang-ho has made a new film, JUNG_E. Teaser available.

In a post-apocalyptic 22nd century, a researcher at an AI lab leads the effort to end a civil war by cloning the brain of a heroic soldier — her mother.

Having loved his previous work, this is a must see for us.

Two of the three main cast are also from Hellbound - Kim Hyun-joo and Ryu Kyung-soo.

South Korean horror master Yeon Sang-ho (Train to Busan, Hellbound) directs this dystopian portrait of “a desolated Earth in the 22nd century that is no longer inhabitable due to climate change. Amid the chaos, an internal war breaks out in the shelter built for human survival. Victory — meaning the end of the war — now hinges on finding a way to clone the legendary mercenary JUNG_E into a scalable robot.”

Interesting to see human cloning posed as a solution to a crisis rather than the typical cause of some nightmare.

Unless the proposed "victory" isn't actually achieved because of typical cloning nightmare stuff?
