Indie developer S2 Games has announced a new sci-fi survival sim with a YouTube trailer, Lost Away.

Visually it seems to draw inspiration from Avatar. The creature featured in the trailer sports Avatar like wavy tentacles, there's lots of night-time bioluminescence and a smattering of floating rocks.

And also possible Alien. PC Gamer aptly describe the makeshift breathing apparatus (pictured here) as a facehugger.

Clearly the crash survivor hasn't seen said movie. There's no hesitation about slapping that thing on his face.

Which he did because he saw the Avatar wavy tentacle creature with one on its throat. Apparently that creature also crash landed and couldn't breathe the atmosphere.

Mmmm.

While there are now a huge number of crafting survival sim games, few are sci-fi and offer this kind of vibrant, alien environment.

If this video is gameplay footage it could be promising.

Not so promising is the fact that the developer's only other known game is another Steam title which released a YouTube trailer in July and there has been nothing new since.

Including not even a single developer comment in that title's Steam discussions.

That is unusual.
