A little over two months after its cinema release, Sony have released the first nine minutes of the film on YouTube.

That's not standard practice. What might this be?

Our first thought was that it might have performed poorly at the box office.

With an $83 million (US) budget and bringing in $163 million (US), that is a bit on the poor side.

We didn't see it so can't offer our opinion but it was unloved by both critics and audiences.

And releasing for digital sale today.

That explains sharing the opening scene.
