We rarely see much in the way of sci-fi news from local streaming provider Stan but a recent promotion with accompanying trailer says they're home to a "critically acclaimed" sci-fi horror called From, heading into its second season.

Colour us curious.

What's this one about?

In a nightmarish town in middle America that traps everyone who enters, unwilling residents strive to stay alive and search for a way out, but they are plagued by the terrifying nocturnal creatures from the surrounding forest, and secrets hidden in the town itself.

Not an original idea, but those are rare.

Trailer looks decent but unremarkable. Is it really critically acclaimed?

Well it earned two Saturn nominations last year, for Best Horror Series and Best Actor (Harold Perrineau) but critic and user reviews are in the watchable but not rave worthy region.

Among its small army of executive producers are the Russo brothers of Marvel fame (Captain America: Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame).

Might be worth a look if you're a fan of horror and or the brothers but don't go in with terribly high expectations.

From season one is streaming now on Stan and season 2 returns on April 24 with episodes releasing weekly.
