NASA have released a short, one minute video describing their imminent Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART).

Their first launch window is November 24.

It includes an invitation to watch the launch coverage which is probably much less exciting than anything we've seen in sci-fi but still momentous.

Crashing a satellite into an asteroid is crude by sci-fi standards and the probability of a dangerous asteroid strike isn't high but this is a milestone.

The first test of a planetary defense system.
