Orville Odds 50-50 Plus
Posted By:

Seth MacFarlane has pegged the current odds of The Orville getting a fourth season at 50-50, but its imminent (August 10) worldwide release on Disney+ could improve its outlook.

He also laid to rest concerns about the availability of both himself and other cast in the event of renewal.

Here in Australia we've had the first two seasons on Disney+ courtesy of Disney buying Hulu.

Outside of Australia Hulu and Disney+ continue as separate streaming subscription services.

Hulu with 45.6 million subscribers and Disney+ with 137.7.

Obviously some households could be subscribed to both but Disney+ could potentially get a lot more eyes on this great show.

There has been widespread media - regular and social - speculation that the show would be unlikely to continue because cast contracts have expired and Seth now has other creative commitments.

He addressed both directly:

There’s some trickiness.

But, look, the actors are the easy part.

How do I work it into everything else that’s now going on?

I will say that I get as emotionally invested in the show as any of the fans so I will find a way to do it if there is a Season 4.

So that settles that.

Especially if you follow the implicit advice of the season finale to ignore or abandon social media - which has been brutal to this show and its fans.

All three seasons of The Orville are available now on SBS On Demand.

The Orville's first two seasons are also available now on Disney+ with its third season possibly arriving on the 10th in Australia with the show's worldwide release on that platform.
