Soon to join AMC's growing library of sci-fi titles is a new animated drama series called Pantheon which now has a trailer and release date.

Once you get past the ubiquitous "feelings rule" bit it starts to get murdery and interesting.

What's it all about?

Based on a collection of short stories from Ken Liu about Uploaded Intelligence, or, human consciousness uploaded to the 'Cloud', Pantheon focuses on Maddie (Chang), a bullied teen who receives mysterious help from someone online. The stranger is soon revealed to be her recently deceased father, David (Kim), whose consciousness has been uploaded to the Cloud following an experimental destructive brain scan. David is the first of a new kind of being: an “Uploaded Intelligence” or “UI,” but he will not be the last, as a global conspiracy unfolds that threatens to trigger a new kind of world war.

It boasts a star-studded cast, is executive produced by Craig Silverstein and received a second series order when it was greenlit back in 2020.

Craig Silverstein previously executive produced Nikita and Terranova, both of which are great.

Behind Star Trek: The Next Generation, we'd place Nikita in a ranked list of series with best finales.

High praise from us, for whatever that's worth.

We also note that there was a four minute sneak peek clip last month which didn't make it onto our radar.

With this trailer we almost didn't watch it because the name is more suggestive of fantasy than sci-fi and may have made that error with the clip if we saw it outside of a sci-fi specific stream.

Which is where we caught this trailer.

Pantheon will premiere on AMC+ on September 1 which is available as an extra subscription service on Apple TV and Prime Video.
