20th Century have released a teaser for their soon to be released Prey film, set in the Predator universe.

An alien hunter armed with advanced technologies versus a Commanche warrior armed with bow and hatchet.

Hardly sounds fair, does it?

While we haven't seen the eariler Predator films - apart from the Alien crossovers - we understand that present day war veterans armed to the teeth with modern weaponry struggled with them.

Though perhaps our field of view needs to be slightly broader.

Knowledge and understanding of the natural surroundings might be far more valuable than a pocket full of grenades.

And this is a Hollywood film.

Heroes don't lose.

Especially not in Disney films.

Plus this warrior is a woman who defied Commanche gender norms to become a hunter.

You're not going to all that trouble to then be taken down by the first psychopathic interstellar tourist who takes a stroll through your forest.

Are you?

While the synopsis clearly identifies this warrior, played by Amber Midthunder (Legion, Roswell New Mexico), a male character is front and centre for much of it.

Set in the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, “Prey” is the story of a young woman, Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior. She has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains, so when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people. The prey she stalks, and ultimately confronts, turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technically advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries.

He is last seen with Predator targeting dots on his forehead.

Maybe along with the other gender flipping, his character will be window dressing killed in an early scene to serve as a focus for vengeance?

Prey will release on Hulu in the US on August 5 so we might expect to see it on Disney+ in Australia at around the same time.
