RoboCop Delayed
Posted By:

First person shooter RoboCop: Rogue City has been delayed from June to September and as is often the way, we learn of this via a different date attached to their latest trailer.

They could have copy / pasted the stock standard seeking to produce a product of the highest quality standard type statement but why waste any of our time?

Is the trailer any good?

Labelled a gameplay overview we see one evening patrol which begins with a bit of street wandering.

Followed by RoboCop knocking on someone's door and without it being opened, being told to, "Come back with a warrant."

Environment scanning turns up evidence which leads him to questioning someone in a toilet who reveals drug related criminal activity taking place in the basement.

A message flashes on screen - "Search warrant granted".

Realistically snappy for the futuristic setting.

As we'd expect for the crime ridden setting, the criminals aren't pleased to receive him and respond violently.

Also realistic for this character, he makes no attempt to avoid or evade incoming fire.

Just waltzing straight in and efficiently eliminating targets.

Interestingly there is no health or equivalent bar shown on screen from which we might conclude that he is indestructible but between engagements, "System repairing" is displayed briefly.

It looks like there might be some kind of effective superspeed - shown as time slowing down - and a targeting assist.

Overall, the trailer conveys great authenticity and few games put characters in the boots of an indestructible killing machine.

Especially following the success of last year's Elden Ring, gaming in general seems to be leaning more towards careful, considered and strategic combat where every hit you receive can be a crippling error.

RoboCop is in a totally different vein and that could help to make it really stand out.

However, the action gaming crowd tend to enjoy a challenge and there is none to be seen in this trailer.

RoboCop: Rogue City is scheduled to release in September on PC (Steam and Epic), Xbox X|S and PlayStation 5.
