Russian Film Crew on ISS
Posted By:

SpacePolicyOnline reports that Russian actress Yulia Peresild and film director Klim Shipenko have reached the ISS where they will shoot The Challenge.

The film's premise is that a Russian cosmonaut loses consciousness in flight and requires immediate surgery.

Title seems accurate.

Yulia beats Star Trek's William Shatner to be the first actor into space. He'll be up there next week.

She also beats Tom Cruise with the first movie to be filmed in space.

In late 2020 it was announced that Cruise and director Doug Liman would travel to the ISS in October 2021. That didn't eventuate and no specific flight date was ever announced.

Cruise had been busy filming Mission Impossible 7 which only concluded on September 9. Filming had been delayed by COVID and Cruise's promotional obligations to Top Gun: Maverick.
