At this year's Film Independent Spirit Awards, Everything Everywhere All at Once was nominated for seven (out of twelve total for film) categories and won them all, setting a record for the awards.

Only Jamie-Lee Curtis lost out to co-star Ke Huy Quan because this year the awards went gender neutral - everyone up against each other all together.

An interesting change but a shame for Jamie or whoever else might have won.

• Best Supporting Performance (Ke Huy Quan)
• Best Breakthrough Performance (Stephanie Hsu)

• Best Editing (Paul Rogers)

This marks the first time that Michelle Yeoh beat local Cate Blanchett (Tar) competing for best performance though as we've remarked before, with Cate and Everything's Jamie-Lee Curtis next to be seen in the Borderlands film, either of them winning is a win for sci-fi.

Very little is known about that film but attendees at last year's Las Vegas Cinemacon were treated to an exclusive first look and the buzz was extremely positive.

If good and with two of the main cast still shiny with awards glory, it could make big waves.

It's Michelle who has the long history of martial arts films but Cate showcased her own ninja moves dashing in at the tail end of Everything photos on the blue carpet to hug and pose with Michelle.

Also ducking under her table to avoid host Hasan Minhaj capturing "clickbait-y thumbnail" shots for YouTube.

In television, Severance and considered by some but not the author as sci-fi Station Eleven had been up for best series and several cast for performances, but didn't snatch any wins.

Next stop, the Oscars (March 13 Oz time).
