Earlier this year the US Federal Trade Commission launched an anti-trust investigation into Sony's acquisition of game developer Bungie.

Across the pond they're now also being sued for 5 billion pounds by 9 million claimants for overpricing games and in-game purchases.

The claim was filed by consumer rights advocate Alex Neill on behalf of anyone in the UK who purchased PlayStation digital games or add-on content after August 19, 2016, all of whom may be eligible for compensation.

It alleges that the 30% commission charged by Sony is not commensurate with the services provided and that they deploy anti-competitive strategies to maintain high prices.

Gaming is now the biggest entertainment industry in the UK.

Many don't expect much to come of the anti-trust investigation but this civil case filed with the UK's Competition Appeal Tribunal could be a different matter.
