Starfield Surprise
Posted By:

Action roleplaying game Starfield was previously scheduled to release last year (11/11/2022) then bumped to the first half of this year - which is approaching half over and packed with other major releases.

Many were expecting its release date to be revealed in a promised developer deep dive, but this morning Bethesda dropped a release date reveal trailer - September 6.

Included therein is studio director Todd Howard telling us to expect that deep dive, "Starfield Direct", on June 11.

Few fans will be pleased by another delay but we prefer solid news to the constant grind of the rumour mill which is unrelenting in its absence.

The studio has a fondness for November release dates.

Their previous two titles were Skyrim (November 11, 2011) and Fallout 4 (November 10, 2015).

But one of the two games which had consistently topped them in Steam's wishlist charts is zombie apocalypse shooter The Day Before and in January they delayed their release to November 10.

What will be interesting to see now is FromSoftware's next move.

Fantasy action roleplaying game Elden Ring dominated sales for much of last year and garnered many awards.

Several weeks ago they finally confirmed what many had naturally expected - an expansion in the works - and gave it a title (Shadow of the Erdtree) but no release date.

Also from the same developer and due out this year is Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon.

Either could be scheduled to Starfield's potential disadvantage.

Starfield is now set to release on September 6 on PC (Steam) and Xbox X|S.
