SteamWorld Build
Posted By:

Developer Thunderful have released a trailer and a developer diary for their next game set in the genre diverse post-apocalyptic steampunk SteamWorld series.

This one titled SteamWorld Build will focus on construction and management but also resource gathering in a more involved manner than other titles of that style.

That resource gathering primarily takes the form of underground mining.

In most construction and management sims mining gameplay is no deeper than finding a resource node on a map's surface and building a mine.

Which then automatically grants you a steady supply of minerals over time.

Mining in SteamWorld Build is more hands on.

Its developers cite Dungeon Keeper as an inspiration.

As you can see in the trailer your little steampunk miners must dig through the ground to find resources and other goodies which can then be used to expand and improve your surface settlement.

Intriguing and also tantalizing because this newly announced title is scheduled for a 2023 launch.

Also intriguing is the fact that they're working on 3 other titles in the SteamWorld series.

No details were given here but having already made SteamWorld games in so many styles and unconventional combinations thereof, we are curious to see what these other three will be.

SteamWorld Build is scheduled for a 2023 launch on PC, Xbox One and X|S, PS4 and PS5.

A free PC demo is also available on Steam, GOG and Epic.
