This year's Oz Comic-Con titled "Homegrown" is set to kick off in Sydney on December 4 and 5 at the Sydney Showground, Olympic Park.

Homegrown obviously courtesy of COVID. This will be the first in-person expo at the showgrounds since the lockdown.

There will be a focus on guests, exhibitors and activations from NSW but also some international guests appearing virtually.

Activations? Yeah we had to look that one up.

Interactive ad basically, though in the case of comic con it will be some kind of interactive display related to a fictional property.

Is Homegrown code for boring?

Looking at the list of guests not many are super widely known faces, like Doctor Who's John Barrowman.

But if you read through their bios there is some high caliber and profile voice talent, eg. Remy Hii who voiced Marcus in Netflix's chart-topping and critically adored Arcane and Colleen O'Shaugnessey who voiced "the female Asura from Guild Wars 2".

There are quite a few female Asura in that game so we presume that means she provided the voice for female Asura player characters. In which case anyone who has played one will have heard a lot of her work.

Also a range of noteworthy sci-fi / fantasy acting credits including Xena: Warrior Princess, Love and Monsters, Ocean Girl and Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Plus cosplay and comic guests.

It looks like a very solid line-up.

Though not presenting or exhibiting we will also be there wandering around with a camera crew and talking to people.

Melbourne

Melbourne will be next after Sydney on December 11 and 12 at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre (MCEC), with their own batch of Homegrown talent.

Hot off the presses for the Melbourne event - Stargate's Amanda Tapping has been announced as a virtual guest for a live streamed Q&A session.
