Tales From the Borderlands

In addition to the surprise and curiously swift release of Tiny Tina's Wonderlands first DLC, this week at PAX East, Gearbox Software announced that they will this year release a new Tales From the Borderlands interactive narrative.

Developed in house. The previous entry was developed by the original Telltale Games under license from Gearbox.

This is interesting as a third Telltale style sci-fi narrative in production at this time.

There's Star Trek: Resurgence by some former Telltale developers at newly formed Dramatic Labs.

And The Expanse: A Telltale Series by new developers at the previously defunct Telltale.

Also this is Gearbox or parent company 2K going all in on the Borderlands franchise.

There's a Borderlands film in development starring Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Jamie-Lee Curtis expected to release this year.

Gearbox have a deservedly excellent reputation as storytellers so it's likely they can pull off the new game.

Films based on computer game properties generally have not done well but a whole range of factors have changed since the sad World of Warcraft film.

We're a little bit optimistic about this one.
