For US, Canadian, UK and EU residents only, sorry to tease Aussies, Valve is offering to give away one Steam Deck per minute to registered participants who watch The Game Awards through Steam.

That's a decent prize and not terrible odds.

Google helpfully tells us - it's so tedious figuring this out for ourselves - that the Awards will stream at 11:30 AM on the 9th, AET.

Though checking - because we know we should - that would appear to include a half hour pre-show.

Were Australians eligible, we'd sign up and watch on Steam.

Instead of YouTube which is just our default.

Steam have been live streaming gamers and developers for some time but we have never partaken.

What this giveaway signals to us is that Steam is really serious about competing with YouTube and Twitch on this front.

Intriguing.
