In preparation for the imminent launch of Disney's Galactic Starcruiser hotel / roleplaying experience, they've released a trailer for what they're calling The Chandrila Collection.

Which just seems to be all of merchandise in the attached store and also accessible online.

Curiously it includes a captain's hat which would look more at home on an Earth seafaring ship than a Galactic Starcruiser.

What's Chandrila? A planet in the Star Wars universe.

While the franchise is arguably in poor shape right now and there's a lot of scope to criticise or mock this venture in its own right, this is interesting from the perspective of the continuining normalization of past-times previously regarded as geeky and uncool.

Not so long ago, many people wouldn't have even known what LARPing (live action roleplaying) is.

Now it's a luxury experience in one of the most expensive hotels on the planet.

Disney's Galactic Starcruiser opens March 1 in Walt Disney World with prices for an off-season weekday two night stay in the five to six thousand USD region, depending on number of guests per cabin.
