Radio Times have published an article detailing a freshly unearthed piece of Doctor Who history which came to light at a panel promoting the 4K Ultra HD release of the 1960 films Dr. Who and the Daleks and Daleks - Invasion Earth: 2150 A.D.

That being the script for a third film which included two Doctors - older and younger versions of himself.

We've seen more than a few episodes in the current TV series where the Doctor encounters themselves.

Why should we care about this ancient script for an unmade film?

Our Own Two Doctor Theory

Following the bizarre display of racism by both the Doctor and their companions in the first Flux episode, we set ourselves to trying to explain how that could happen.

Multiple theories emerged and one was that Jodie Whittaker isn't the Doctor, because we know the Doctor isn't racist.

She could be the Master experiencing post-regenerative amnesia.

Having most recently been pretending to be the Doctor under his tutelage as a teaching / rehabilitation exercise, she may have mistakenly believed herself to really be the Doctor and then carried on as if him.

In which case she would both be and not be the Doctor.

Because the "Doctor" is a self-appointed title adopted by a traumatized war veteran intent on making a better him and also a better universe.

Would a confused the Master / Missy mistakenly adopting his identity and living as he would be so different?

Though two distinct individuals with different pasts they could still both legitimately be the Doctor.

We're not claiming this freshly unearthed script and its two concurrent Doctors as proof of our theory - which is only one of several we came up for the racism - but we know that public relations attempts to manage viewer and fan response to change.

If they are planning something like we've described then prefacing that with some ancient precedent could be intended to take some of the sting out of any potential adverse reaction.
