Westworld Slump

Several publications are running stories about Westworld's season 4 premiere viewership being down. Is it?

Yes. And sharply.

Seasons one and two premieres pulled in about 2 million viewers, season three 900,000 and season four just 330,000.

Doesn't bode well for the series' future.

We rewatched the series recently and season three was not its strongest.

The second half in particular felt stretched thin.

Like its episodes were less driven by compelling story than they were a need to fill time on a tight budget.

That could be responsible for this dip.

Another possible contributing factor is the weekly release schedule.

Even at its thinnest Westworld's story is still moderately dense and better suited to binge-watching.

We considered waiting until the full series had released before beginning it and others may be doing just that.

If you are watching season four HBO have produced a teaser trailer for what's to come.

Westworld is available to stream now on Binge and Foxtel Now with season four episodes releasing weekly.
