Hunt/Kill

This mission scenario provides experience with starship combat tactics.

Two starships are given orders that have conflicting requirements within the same star system. The exact orders may vary, but typically one vessel will adopt a defensive posture - protecting a planet or preventing intrusion, while the other vessel will adopt an offensive posture.

Sample orders for the offensive vessel might be:

Intelligence indicates an adversary force has located an artificially constructed outpost on P3M-F53T and has scientific teams on site, protected by a starship patrolling within the star system.

You are to neutralise the adversary starship and prevent it from leaving the system to report on this action. You are then to capture any adversary planetside units, secure the outpost site and deploy scientific teams there as soon as is safe.

While the defensive vessel's orders might be:

A scientific team has been landed on P3M-F53T and is analysing an abandoned alien outpost, protected by a marine unit. The starship which landed the team has developed serious operational issues and has left the system for repairs.

You are to travel to the F53T system with utmost dispatch and once there protect the planetside teams. Any adversary vessel attempting to approach P3M-F53T is to be intercepted and neutralised any in order to prevent intelligence regarding the discovery on the palnet being communicated.

Mission Goal

The first vessel with a successful torpedo prosecution against the other vessel wins the scenario.

Crew

Crew requirements for this scenario are:

This mission scenario supports the EMDAR specialist's participation on the bridge, in which case EMDAR and weapons direction can be split across the port and starboard consoles (as indicated).

Who should take part

This mission scenario provides EMDAR specialists with practical experience locating another vessel under mission conditions.

The mission scenario provides weapons direction specialists with practical experience in torpedo prosecution under mission conditions.

It also provides a tactical officer (on Conn) with the opportunity to coordinate EMDAR and helm to optimise the search. The officer must interpret the data provided by EMDAR and extrapolate the adversary's position and intentions. The officer must then maneuver so that conditions for a successful torpedo prosecution are met without endangering the vessel.
