BAFTA Darling Dune

A welcome sight in the newstream this morning is a small avalanche of articles whose titles declare Dune leading the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) award nominations.

Dune received an impressive eleven nominations out of a total of twenty-five categories.

Nukklear Dune

German developer Nukklear have announced a partnership with Funcom on the upcoming multiplayer surival game, Dune.

There aren't any substantial new details here but we might infer that the popularity of this year's Dune film has encouraged Funcom, or new owners Tencent, to upscale their vision for this project.

Stinker Dune

David Lynch's 1984 Dune is widely regarded as a bit of a stinker and even Lynch himself disowns it citing interference from above. It won Worst Picture in the 7th Stinkers Bad Movie Awards.

In an interview with Games Radar, Ridley Scott reveals that it was stink which caused him to leave that Dune during pre-production.

Dune Leaps into Second

We recently reported on a rifle from the original series of Star Trek selling for US $615, 000 (US). At the time no-one - including us - realised that this was a new record for Star Trek, beating the previous record holder of an Enterprise D model which sold at a Christie's auction for $576, 000 (US) in 2006.

Dune China Controversy

Taiwan News reports the absense of black actress Sharon Duncan-Brewster's character and replacement with Taiwanese actor Chang Chen's character on Chinese promotional posters for Dune.

At this time it isn't known who is responsible for this difference and it should be noted that the US version of the posters have also been seen in China.
