Netflix Nibbles

Netflix's PR people are too astute to waste any heavy hitters against the likes of Avatar or Wakanda Forever but don't like to completely bow out of any tussle.

So we have some characteristically mid and low range entries from them this week in Warriors of the Future and Hot Skull.

Wakanda Forever

With Marvel's second Black Panther film, Wakanda Forever, releasing in cinemas this week, there has been the typical trickle of teasers - Remember, Namor, Lift Me Up, One Week, Live.

Including a typical amount of repetition in their content. Regardless they are superb.

Space Vampires

So the internet is abuzz with reports that Jennifer Lawrence regrets her Passengers role - the creepiest "romance" film we've ever seen - and that Adele advised her not to do it.

Did Adele not like the script? No.

Avatar Trailer

Approaching thirteen years after the original's cinematic release, today we have the highly anticipated trailer for Avatar: The Way of Water.

As anyone would expect, it looks fabulously pretty. But doesn't include any shocking reveals.

Brand Convergence

For US customers only at this point, but we consider it interesting, YouTube have rolled out their new Primetime Channels.

Not to be confused with Amazon's Prime Video Channels. Though they appear to be much the same - optional subscriptions to third party content.

DC Divergence

A few weeks back, DC's Black Adam released in cinemas alongside action roleplaying game Gotham Knights. It looked like dark day for the franchise with generally unfavourable critic response to the film, and mixed but quite savage reviews for the game from several major publications. Today on Rotten Tomatoes, Black Adam sports a 40% critic and 90% viewer score. Only half a world between those.

Dark Day For DC

We went to bed last night seeing abysmal review scores for DC's newly released Black Adam and thought, that's what we'll be talking about tomorrow.

And awoke to find reviews for released today / tomorrow (depending on platform) action roleplaying game Gotham Knights in the same region.

IGN have pegged both (Gotham Knights, Black Adam) as 5s.

Tudum Ta-Da

While Netflix has a respectable and growing science-fiction library and those titles were present in their Tudum fan event, there wasn't much in the way of substantial sci-fi news or footage.

Hellbound - which we're not sure yet is sci-fi - was renewed for a second season. We got a teaser for They Cloned Tyrone, which looks much less sci-fi than its name might lead you to believe. Plus a teaser for a new anime series Moonrise.

Star Trek Lost in Space

Just a few weeks after Disney removed the next Star Wars film from their release schedule, Paramount did the same for Star Trek.

Previously scheduled for December 2023, it's now just gone poof.

Jack is Back

Despite having previously described his time in the role as done and a return not on the table, Hugh Jackman is now set to return in the role of Wolverine in Deadpool 3.

The announcement came via a twitter video posted by Deadpool himself, Ryan Reynolds.
