Shatner Shunned

A new Star Trek promotional poster is making headlines for its notable exclusion of original leading man, William Shatner as Captain Kirk.

Every other commanding officer or equivalent is featured but representing the original crew are Spock (Leonard Nimoy) and Uhura (Nichelle Nichols).

Discovery Dusted

Star Trek: Discovery's fifth season will be its last. It will also not reach our screens until early 2024 instead of this year as previously expected.

Season five filming is almost complete.

Chris Casts a Curse

In an interview with Esquire for his latest film Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, Chris Pine (Captain Kirk) was predictably questioned about the trapped in a temporal vortex Star Trek 4.

In part his reply was the usual "I know nothing and still haven't seen a script" but he went an extra parsec and suggested both that it may never be made and that the franchise is cursed.

Picard Comes Home

By home our title means Paramount+ rather than the vineyard. They've reached a deal with Amazon to both stream the third season of Picard which begins February 17.

Previous seasons will also be available on the same date and joined later this year by Star Trek: Lower Decks.

Picard S3 Trailer

Curiously coming to us through Comicbook.com rather than Paramount or Star Trek accounts we have the trailer for Star Trek: Picard's third and final season.

It's action packed and a far cry from the old man (Picard) moping about a vineyard promo which launched this series to cries of what-the-f is this?

Rise of the Beasts

The first teaser for Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is out.

It all feels terribly expected.

Prodigy on the Prime

Readers of our blog would probably be aware that of the current era Star Trek's, Prodigy is the only one we reckon is proper Star Trek.

In February we credited it with not retconning the Prime Directive, but on watching the first episode after its mid-season break, sadly discovered that honour was premature.

Brand Convergence

For US customers only at this point, but we consider it interesting, YouTube have rolled out their new Primetime Channels.

Not to be confused with Amazon's Prime Video Channels. Though they appear to be much the same - optional subscriptions to third party content.

Star Trek Lost in Space

Just a few weeks after Disney removed the next Star Wars film from their release schedule, Paramount did the same for Star Trek.

Previously scheduled for December 2023, it's now just gone poof.
