September 8 is Star Trek Day and there will be a livestreamed special event commencing locally on September 9 at 3 a.m. AEST.
Their schedule covers all of the current TV shows and a tribute to Nichelle Nichols. No mention of the stuck in development hell Star Trek film or other new series previously announced to be in development like Starfleet Academy.
This week sci-fi heavyweights line up in the Saturn Award nominations, is a fourth season of The Mandalorian already on the way, new trailers but more delays for sci-fi games, a Doctor Who regeneration twist and a rookie presenter fills in for Raymond.
After saying "Fuck Star Wars. But Not Mark Hamill," and that Gene Roddenberry would be "turning in his grave" at some of the new Star Trek series, William Shatner had kinder words for Paul Wesley who now plays Kirk in Strange New Worlds.
When Paul Wesley was announced to have joined the season two cast of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, we remarked that the accompanying promotional image didn't have much of a Kirk vibe.
Following his appearance as Kirk in Strange New Worlds' first season finale, Star Trek fan site Red Shirts Always Die echoed our sentiment.
While we were relieved that Strange New Worlds' pilot episode felt like a return to real Star Trek, it may have been short-lived.
The second is an improvement in that Uhura gets over her pilot episode fangirl giddiness but unfortunately we see The Prime Directive retconned and also some weak writing.
We're back! In this week's edition, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds hits screens this week, we take a tour of Sydney's own starship simulator and a first look at Stephen Moffat's new series The Time Traveler's Wife.
