A trailer for Zack Snyder’s much anticipated next project has been released. 

Told across two movies, Rebel Moon follows the story of a peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy that comes under threat from a tyrannical empire. 

Sofia Boutella plays Kora, a mysterious stranger living among the villagers who becomes responsible for protecting the colony with the help of a small band of warrior outcasts from other worlds. 

Inspired by the 50’s Akira Kurosawa film Seven Samurai, Rebel Moon is described as a “big-canvas ballad of galactic resistance”. Snyder himself says the concept has been developing in his head for more than two decades, so ‘epic’ may be something of an understatement. 

Part one of Rebel Moon premieres on Netflix December 22.
