#William Shatner

Boldly Going Where...

... other people have gone before. But older and fatter.

Those were essentially George Takei's sentiments when asked what he thought about William Shatner's recent spaceflight:

Space is Death

It's less upbeat than one might have expected from our first Starfleet captain in space and not as inspirational as the Star Trek title sequence, but Shatner was clearly affected by the experience. He had more to say:

Suddenly you're through the blue and you're into black and you're into, you know, it's raaaa, it's mysterious and the galaxies and things, but what you see is black. And what you see down there is light. And that's the difference.

Enjoy the Ride

That is William Shatner's advice, given this morning in a short video released via twitter.

And it looks like there's a great deal of curiosity about this fictional character, Captain Kirk, going into space, so let's go along with it and enjoy the ride.

It's not a very exciting video really but if you've been following this story you might want to take a look.

Shatner Being NSFW

Anderson Cooper has tweeted a video of him interviewing William Shatner about his upcoming space flight.

Fair warning, the language gets slightly adult.

Following on from comments on the shape of the rocket, Shatner says that, "We're inseminating the space program." Plus some stuff about insertions and probing.

Shatner In Space

Spaceflight Now reports that William Shatner will fly into space on October 12 on Blue Origin's New Shephard. This will be its second passenger flight.

He won't be the first actor in space. Russian actress Yulia Peresild will be on her way to the ISS with a film director this Tuesday.
