New footage from the next Alien movie was screened at the recent CinemaCon event that suggests this will be the most terrifying yet.

Alien: Romulus takes place between the events of Ridley Scott’s original Alien and James Cameron’s Aliens.

Cailee Spaeny as Rain Carradine steps into a very similar role to Sigourney Weaver’s Ripley, exploring the wreck of a space ship that she’s about to find out is riddled with xenomorphs. The clips screened at CinemaCon showed not just the initial attack by face-huggers but also the later chest-exploding consequences, which will hopefully be included in later trailers.

Evil Dead’s Fede Alvarez is directing with Ridley Scott back as producer.

Alien: Romulus is due in cinemas August 16.
