Amazon Alone?

A Variety article details the entertainment industry's response to the previously leaked US Supreme Court ruling which overturns Roe v. Wade, allowing states to institute abortion bans.

Most of the entertainment majors now offer some form of financial support for staff to travel interstate to access abortions.

Of Amazon the article had only this to say:

Some Hollywood companies did not respond to a request for comment on the decision, while others, such as Amazon and Lionsgate, said they did not have a statement at this time.

This article makes it sound like Amazon is going against the grain, which would be remarkable.

But are they?

No.

The same day as but before the leak they issued a statement that they would reimburse staff for travel expenses up to $4000 US for non life-threatening medical procedures, including but not limited to abortions.

Variety aren't a minor publication and there are four authors cited for this article.

Even if they didn't already know Amazon's position - which doesn't seem likely - it only took us a few seconds to find it with a quick google.

However, the title specifies media corporations' responses following the Supreme Court decision and Amazon's preceded it by a wide margin so the article is factually correct.

Are they cynical of the timing and taking a measured shot at Amazon?

If there's something to this it's beyond our ability to even speculate on but we are now curious.

Lionsgate?

We couldn't find anything for them.
