Hollywood Reporter brings us some not very surprising news.

Hayden Christensen will appear in the Disney+ live-action Ahsoka series.

Having last year announced that Hayden will appear in the Disney+ live-action Obi-Wan series many would naturally have expected him to also turn up here.

Though Filoni and co have already reunited these characters (different actors) in Rebels and that didn't bring warm feelings into everone's hearts.

Ahsoka Who?

For the benefit of readers who might never have watched Clone Wars or Rebels, Ahsoka Tano was Anakin Skywalker's apprentice between movie Episodes 2 and 3.

Both were fiercely loyal to the other. When Ahsoka was framed for terrorism and murder by another Jedi apprentice who had gone dark side, of all the Jedi only Anakin never lost faith in her.

He allowed her to escape to uncover the truth.

Proof of Ahsoka's innocence spared her being convicted at the proverbial 11th hour but the Jedi Order's lack of faith in her completely broke hers in them.

After having expelled her they invited her back. Not as an apprentice but as a full Jedi.

She declined.

It's a beautiful scene.

Incredibly sad because she's such an endearing character.

Simultaneously joyous because leaving the Order means she might escape the purge which we all knew was imminent. The horrifying idea of Anakin one day trying to kill her had loomed over the series since its inception.

Then Rebels went there - pitted her against Anakin as Vader and he nearly killed her.

Sometimes less really is more.
