A release date for the fifth and final series of Star Trek: Discovery has been announced.

Captain Burnham and crew will be back on screens on April 4, this time seeking out “…an ancient power whose very existence has been deliberately hidden for centuries.” Naturally the crew of the Discovery aren’t the only ones on the hunt, facing “…dangerous foes who are desperate to claim the prize for themselves and will stop at nothing to get it.”

Business as usual, then.

With plenty of notice of the end it’s hoped the writers will take the opportunity to give the series a fitting send-off.

Once the final ten episodes are aired it will leave Strange New Worlds as the only live-action Star Trek series in production, although a new Starfleet Academy series has been green-lit by CBS Studios.

Star Trek: Discovery season five premieres on Paramount+ April 4.
