A new co-op mode has been previewed for real time strategy game Homeworld 3.

The sequel is set 100 years after the events of Homeworld 2, with the emergence of a mysterious threat that is shutting down the hyperspace gate network piece by piece.

Gameplay involves fleets made up different vessel types ranging from large carriers through to single-pilot interceptors. In previews so far combat takes place amongst the derelict hulks of ancient ships, providing 3D terrain perfect for a range of strategic ploys.

The new co-op mode is called War Games and allows up to three players to combine their fleets and fight rouge-like through an escalating series of battles. A mix of tactics is called for and if one of you fail at any point, it’s back to the start with whatever XP you’ve gained.

Homeworld 3’s launch has already been delayed a couple of times and is currently expected February 2024 for PC, with pre-orders available now.
